Sometimes you can find more than hay and a good time in an old barn. A find like this is a dream come true for most motorcycle enthusiasts. Yes, it was stored in a barn and yes, it was a mess. Five bags of sand were used just on the frame to remove all the shotty bondo work and reveal all the welding that was going to be redone.

From the beginning, blue was going to be the color. The owner wanted it to be a Porsche blue. But once he compared the sports car color to some of my suggestions, the Porsche blue literally went into the trash. HOK Magic Blue Pearl sealed the deal. Then I did some gold leaf pinstripes and that was striped in One Shot Process Blue.

I love when old bikes find an owner who cares about them and want to bring them back to the land of the living. It’s a preservation of history, engineering and style that should always play a current part in our lives.

This Girl is Trouble

An already sick looking bike gets even badder! This bike originally had a silver paint job and looked pretty good. It was at Texas Custom Choppers, sold and then the owner wanted to put some custom airbrushing on the tins. since the scheme was black and silver, it needed to stay monochromatic. The owner of the bike was in Afganistan and i did the airbrushing just before he got back to the states. This is a great example of adding some custom work to original paint.

Burning Blue

Blue real fire Harley Davidson! The best thing about this bike are the accents on the bike that we decided to paint. Such as the ring on the air cover and the inner faring and dash pieces. A lot of people avoid painting the inner faring (because it aint easy,) but whenever it is painted, the bike moves up into a new level above the rest. One thing that you would have to see in person is the HD bar and shield intertwined with the fire on the sides of the gas tank and a large one on the back of the tour pack. If you see this bike in person…have your camera ready!

Grim Reaper

This grim reaper is on a Harley Davidson FLHX faring. Very cool…but it may not be what you want to see behind you!

Its all free-hand airbrushing. The owner wanted it to be pretty menacing. Its a great method of customizing a bike without re-doing the whole thing. We had a few references, but neither he or i wanted to recreate something someone else has done already. We just put a slightly different angle on the subject matter by making the reaper’s environment a mass of souls.

Green Shifty Flake

This guy wasn’t prepared for this level of coolness with this paint job. He bought an 81 iron head sportster that was stock. He stopped in to a motorcycle shop called Texas Bike Works to get some oil and they started talking about bikes. This shop owner had a frame that was just perfect for this sporty and that is where it all started. The tear down began when the sporty blew a head gasket.

A few color schemes were tossed around (all with flake in mind) but it came down to a shifty green metal flake from old school flake. The owner of the bike said “do whatever with the paint, I trust you.”

…Well, whenever I hear someone say that, I get some really crazy ideas-I mean crazy! But I haven’t gone through with the extremes yet because I am not ready to corrupt children’s minds that might see my perverted visual monstrosities from a school bus window. Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel differently

So we stayed green shifty flake with an asymmetrical design that is a mutation between low rider and demonic fantasy.

Gunslingers MC

This is the faring of one of the guys bikes that’s a member of the Gunslingers Motorcycle Club here in Austin Texas. This club was started here in Austin and it consists of Law Enforcement Officers. Since its conception, chapters have formed all over the country.

He has a tattoo of the Gunslinger logo on his arm which has the skull and the pair of six shooters and wanted it on his faring as well. If you see this guy or his bike, you’ll know to watch out! These guys are tough.

Lexus Pinstripes

What a sweeeet ride! This guy bought this Lexus for his wife because she kept taking his other one out when he was gone. It had everything on it when he bought it-except her name. He said there was just too much white and he wanted a black pinstripe with her nickname on it.

Graphics don’t need to be over the top to really make something look good. The font is what really gives this ride style!.

Custom Painted Catchers Helmet

Batter Up! Mojo baseball has got some style! This is a pretty cool custom painted helmet. Hope the kids don’t get into a fight about who gets to wear this and be the catcher.

Busa Helmet

This is the helmet of the king of the east. It goes along with the pitt bull hyabusa. The owner wanted the helmet to be pretty mean just like the bike.

It was only appropriate to have a crown around the cranium. But it needed something else; ghost dogs and demons swirling around his thoughts. Its about what he has going around in his head- just look at his Busa! The world needs more people who think like him.
